چکیده

In this paper, an overview of carrier frequency offset (CFO) estimation algorithms for Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) systems is presented. It is well-known that multicarrier systems suffer from their high sensitivity to mismatches of transmitter and receiver oscillator frequencies. The performance degrades since the CFO destroys the orthogonality of the subcarriers. Hence, extensive research has been done on the estimation and correction of the CFO in Single-Input Single-Output (SISO) systems. Mainly, the proposed algorithms can be categorized into data-aided and blind techniques. Several estimation techniques have been extended to the Single-Input MultipleOutput (SIMO) case where multiple receive antennas can be utilized to gain diversity. However, less attention has been paid on synchronization in the attractive Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) case which is topic of tremendous interest in current research. The present paper concentrates on aspects of this new scenario. Starting with algorithms for SISO and SIMO, this contribution reviews briefly proposed carrier frequency synchronization techniques which could be implemented in forthcoming MIMO systems.

AN OFDM Platform for Wireless Systems Testing: Alamouti 2x1 MIMO example

In this paper, we present a real-time implementation of an OFDM hardware platform. The platform is based on HW blocks that can be put together to configure a wireless system based on OFDM modulation. The platform can be easily upgraded to test pre-coding cooperation algorithms. We evaluate the platform to implement a diversity Alamouti 2×1 MIMO scheme wireless system. The testbed is implemented...

Selective Tone Reservation method for PAPR reduction in SFBC-OFDM systems

The high Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR) of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) and MIMO-OFDM systems reduces the system efficiency. In this paper, an extension of Tone Reservation (TR) method is introduced for PAPR reduction in Space Frequency Block Coded OFDM (SFBC-OFDM) systems. The proposed algorithm is based on a time domain kernel which is added to the signal of the anten...

Synchronization and Compensation in TDM Based Single RF MIMO-OFDM System

In this paper, an approach of time division multiplexing (TDM) for the MIMO-OFDM (orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) transmitter and receiver is studied and evaluated to reduce the power consumption and cost down of the multiple antenna RF chains. With this TDM technique, our proposed MIMO-OFDM communication system can reduce the number of RF chains from N to 1, which significantly red...

Cooperative Orthogonal Space-Time-Frequency Block Codes over a MIMO-OFDM Frequency Selective Channel

In this paper, a cooperative algorithm to improve the orthogonal space-timefrequency block codes (OSTFBC) in frequency selective channels for 2*1, 2*2, 4*1, 4*2 MIMO-OFDM systems, is presented. The algorithm of three node, a source node, a relay node and a destination node is formed, and is implemented in two stages. During the first stage, the destination and the relay antennas receive the sym...
